Disillusioned

I'm feeling a bit spent this morning. Here's how my attack went yesterday:

I've really only captured a handful of his stars. I still have some big fleets down there but the reason I'm disillusioned this morning is not because my attack wasn't successful, it's because he's micromanaging all through the night.

The big drawback of this game is that if you are on 24/7, you are probably going to win. If like most of us that play, you jump on a few times a day to check fleets etc, you don't stand a chance against someone like pink.

When we did our introductions at the beginning of the game, he said he was from Russia. That means because of time difference, he'll be at least 7 hours ahead of me and therefore in bed from USA evening onwards. Well he wasn't last night. When I was making my final tweaks before bed last night (at about 10 ish), I could see he was counteracting what I was doing. So then I thought that he maybe didn't live in Russia or that he's on nights or something, so I checked NP again this morning and sure enough, he's been moving his fleets what looks like all night to counteract my autopilot.

I don't really want to play such a slow game all day every day and in some respects the game penalizes you for not doing so. I'll give it a few more days and see how it goes.

Just an example of a few things you can do to micromanage: Move single ships to unguarded stars, move just enough fleets to a star that is due to be attacked, move surplus ships away from stars that are going to be wiped out. You can see by his stats how many fleets he's got. I'd guess a lot of them are very small numbers. You can see a few of those fleets on the screenshot above.

Green hasn't done any attacking yet, but kudos for red for taking a load of stars - a win for the little guy!
